dc.description.abstractThis project tackles the design of a Drag Reduction System (DRS) for a Formula Student single-seater. In the first instance, the goals, targets and requirements of this project are gathered. In addition, some research is done on aerodynamics and fluid dynamics to understand better the concepts treated in the studies. From then, the design begins with the aerodynamic approach using potential flow solvers and CFD simulations. This is made to understand the forces acting on the system and also design the mechanism. On the other hand, a structural design is also done as well as the discussion for the materials, actuators, bolts... that build up the whole system. Then, the full CAD is presented and all the budgets are made. Each steps and stages followed to design the system are perfectly explained in this document in a more or less chronological manner. Finally, results are evaluated and some general conclusions are extracted.
