Abstract
This study is focused in the control design of Interior Permanent Magnet Syn-chronous Motors (IPMSM) for electric propulsion of vehicles. The controldesign is studied as much as the operational behavior’s of the machine as forthe control structure. The main objective of this design is to perform an effi-cient and feasible control adapting it for the real necessities of the vehicles fora different regimes.First is introduced the theoretical framework implied in the project’s devel-opment. Then is introduced the mathematical base which is used in order todevelop the proper models and design the control.Once is exposed the main theory of the project is developed the motor’s modelwhich is used to emulate a real motor’s behavior. Then is modeled the voltagesource inverter which is used to simulate a real motor’s feeding from a batteryvoltage.Then begins the control design. First is characterized the motor’s trends. Theobjective is to define a three dimensional matrix which contains all the oper-ational magnitudes for a given torques and angular velocities with a differentmaximum stator’s voltage. When it is available the operational data it isperformed a selection in order to find the maximum power factor operationand the maximum efficiency operation. Moreover the operational design isadapted to Matlab/Simulink structure adding it to the motor’s and inverter’smodel. Finally is performed some simulations in order to analyze the control’sbehavior.
