Design and implementation of a cryptosystem aimed to share sensible files

Abstract

Since the development of telecommunication systems the secure transmission of sensible information has been one of the primary goals. Data confidentiality and data integrity are crucial when dealing with sensible information and for this reason techniques of secure storage and encryption, over time, grew in complexity and efficacy. Moreover, in modern times sensible files are often stored in different secure locations which do not have a secure link between them. This Master Thesis has as objective the creation of an encryption device able to safely store and share sensible information. This device enables users to securely read, transmit and receive sensible and encrypted files using different public key and disk encryption schemes. The result of this Master thesis is a device called TransCrypt which takes inspiration from the OpenPGP protocol to encrypt sensible files and allow them to securely travel to their recipient deploying several layers of disk encryption.
