In this final degree project, a problem for farmers who collect fruits from the trees is considered. We are going to focus on apples and pears harvest, although the same system could be applicable to other farming activities. The aim of this project is to find an alternative to the inefficient and excessive systems currently used during harvest time, and to set out a solution to the problem by designing a functional prototype. The prototype will be autonomous and will follow farm workers along the fields at a configured distance. It will consist of a specific hardware and software with the Machine Learning application about sensor processing to know the position of the worker constantly. Finally, the production costs will be analyzed, comparing the prototype and the current systems. A discussion about future improvements of this prototype and how it can be applicable to other farming activities is also included in the present work.
