This document consists of the Master’s degree in Management Engineering report at Escola Superior d’Enginyeries Industrial, Aerospacial I Audiovisual de Terrassa (ESEIAAT) of Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). This report is a study for analysing the substitution of semitrailer truck route to a Euro Modular System truck. It consists of finding a compatible route for this new equipment available in the Spanish Market to be able to reduce costs and reduce greenhouse gases. All routes in this study are part of the real business of a freight forwarder. Freight forwarder name, Servicios de Transporte, is invented since the company do not allow using the real company name. In this document, there is a brief description of the freight forwarder as well as the impact in terms of cost and environment of the transportation industry. Afterwards there is the state of the art indicating the international experience with EMS as well as the companies already using this truck in the Spanish territory. State of the art gives a clue where this equipment is used. It is continued, by the explanation of this new truck providing technical information and legal usage limitations. With all the information already detailed and analysed it is compared the costs and environmental impact of two real routes from the company fitting with the EMS configuration. To conclude, it is analysed the two routes when substituting it by EMS comparing costs and CO2 emissions with the current ones.
