Abstract
This project has been developed in the semiconductor manufacturing company Infineon Technologies AG, in Neubiberg (Germany). The project is focused on Digital Twins and Semantic Web. Digital Twins are the ultimate solutions for companies to get a more accurate simulation to perform intensely detailed and risk-free experiments. Semantic Web uses knowledge graphs to make data understandable for humans and machines. Simulation models combined with Semantic Web can together increase the reusability of the created models. Infineon Technologies AG is currently starting to work for a Digital Twin of its Supply Chain. This project takes place at the early steps of it, where the focus is set on the knowledge connection of simulations through the Semantic Web. Infineon Technologies is also working in the Digital reference, a Semantic Web-based solution applied to the semiconductor domainthat already sets the foundation for the project. The project aims to get an understanding ofhow to build simulation models automatically and enabled by ontologies and, more specifically, by the Digital Reference. The development of the project is divided intotwo parts: the first part looks at an overall solution for all domains and the second one focuses on the company where the project has been developed.Firstly, focusing on a solution for any domain on how to define a solution that creates simulation models based on ontologies. The framework is then applied to the specific use case selected in Infineon Technologies AG. The answeris an intermediate engine that creates a model for the simulation software utilizing the user’s input as model requirements and retrieving different bits of information from the Digital Reference the model is built by an engine. The project is closed with some recommendations for future steps to make this engine a reality, an economical and environmental analysis of the project, and conclusions.
