Abstract
One of the most serious problems facing the planet is the global warming, because of the high
emissions of gases into the atmosphere. The main cause of this problem is fossil fuel, which had
been part of humanity in the seventeenth century. In addition, fossil fuels are a limited resource in
the planet and that supposes another challenge by the imminent shortage of this one.
For this reason, the transition towards a more sustainable energy model is already a reality and is
increasingly committed to renewable and sustainable energies. The mobility sector does not escape
this fact and most manufacturers announce large fleets of electric vehicles by 2025. Another sector
that is affected by this is motorsport, an example of that could be Formula-e or Moto-e.
MotoStudent, an organization dedicated to education, has picked up this ingenious challenge with
good eyes and introduced MotoStudent Electric in the IV edition (2014-2016).
This work, with the help of MotoStudent (edition V), pretend to study the power train of an electric
competition motorcycle to optimize the overall performance of the system and obtain the
maximum possible acceleration.
The work will consist of the following sections:
1. Description of the operation of the different elements that comprise the power train of the
motorcycle.
2. Design / Analysis of each one of the elements.
3. Efficiency study of the system
4. Simulation of the system through MATLAB Simulink
