Abstract
[ANGLÈS] If we review the history of MCIA 4T engines (4-stroke alternative internal combustion engine), we see a clear evolution at the level of performance, which is reflected in a constant increase in power, reducing the displacement and consumption The theme of this project is about the contribution of valves in the performance of the open phase of flows between the medium and the cylinder (work area), therefore our work will aim to study the standard valves and alternative valves, with the challenge of offering the market a new valve system that increases the final volumetric efficiency. For the development of this objective, we will focus on the study of the flow through a standard mushroom valve (so called because of its mushroom shape), this type of valve that has monopolized 100% of air management in its open phase. We will use a SUPERFLOW brand flowmeter model 110 SF, to obtain real data from a very sophisticated and highly successful cylinder head, such as the AUDI 1.8 20valvulas engine. This engine has a complex system of 3 intake valves per cylinder. After having access to the flow data, we will focus the project on offering 2 ideas on a new implementation for the management of the air entering the cylinder, such as the guillotine-type valve and the ball-type valve. The work of design and manufacturing, as well as the reading in the bank of flows, will give us the verdict if these types of valves are of interest or should be discarded at the level of volumetric efficiency The motivation of this work goes in the direction of offering future projects the possibility of reducing fuel consumption and making the thermodynamic engine a more ecological machine.
