A client, whose name will not be mentioned throughout this document due to confidential issues, reached out to TVAI S.L, partner system integrator of Cognex for developing a project for an issue they had. Cognex is the world’s leading provider of vision systems, software, sensors and industrial barcode readers used in the manufacturing automation. The main objective of the project was to develop a software application for the quality control of electrical panel doors by means of computer vision, since the manual measurement they use for this task is not precise and they wish to improve both time and precision in this quality control. In order to accomplish the quality control, it is wanted to measure the height of a rubber inside these doors in order to check if they are within some specified tolerances. For this task, Cognex has within their products a set of 3D laser profilers that are suited for this matter from which the DS1050 profiler will be used in this project. Alongside an industrial PC and the Multi-camera controller VC200 from Cognex, the application will help the operator in the measuring process while executing some jobs of some specified profiles that will compute the measurement and communicate them. All this measurements and different doors are declared and stored in a SQL database within the industrial PC. The application has also an edition and exploration section in which new doors can be defined and the measurement data can be explored and even exported in a CSV file for further data treatment. The initial idea is to deliver the system with 3 doors already prepared and defined for measurement. Apart from all these features, the proper documentation has been delivered in form of a user manual. Moreover, all the tools needed for the ideal formation within the client without the help of TVAI have been delivered as well.
