dc.description.abstract | [ANGLÈS] The usages of disposable plastic from the cups gives a huge waste stream that is left after festivals. The solutions of today are hardened plastics of polypropylene, which are still a problem because of the fossil-based material it is made off. The solution of this problem is a biodegradable cup which the company LIMM Recycling produces. The Biocup is made from PHA, but this option is still pretty unknown and unused. To tackle this problem LIMM Recycling in cooperation with House of Design has turned to the circular design, learning for innovation design for sustainability, in the hopes of solving this problem. The students were tasked with a briefing about optimizing the Biocup for festival uses and figuring out a way to make carrying the cup easier so there will be less litter on the festival grounds. Within the 10-week span for the project the team has been conducting research for material purposes, new designs to solve the disadvantage, or utilize its advantages of the PHA material. The team also made use of the test results of the biocup previous trials. In this following process book you will be able to read about the concepts and ideas from the groups on their journey of finding the cups best application. |
