Nowadays EEG signal is the most utilized non-invasive brain data acquisition, because of its portability, low cost in relation with other techniques and ease to obtain brain waves. In order to obtain this signal, electrodes with excellent features and characteristics are required. Despite the fact that in the present-day there is a wide range of electrodes for this purpose, the truth is that still the wet standard electrodes are mainly used, but they require skin preparation and dirt the head of the subject. This thesis enters in the research race to find the most suitable EEG electrode that does not require gel and overcomes the rest of the problems related to wet electrodes. After carrying out a state-of-the-art and literature review, I propose a low-cost dry EEG electrode capable of penetrating the hair and I investigate its functionality, availability impedance and frequency response.
