Abstract
We highlight the potential of the indices of polarimetric purity (IPPs) for biological tissue characterization and recognition. To do so, we study the polarimetric response of four different biological tissues (bone, tendon, muscle and connective tissue) corresponding to a population of 20 different ex-vivo chicken samples. Moreover, we perform several analyses based on non-parametric data distribution statistics, to evaluate which IPPs provides the highest sensitivity to polarimetrically detect a given tissue. We focus on showing how, by using a binary logistic regression-based algorithm, we are capable to recognize, in a single and dynamic sample measurement, between different tissues.
Descripció
In this project, we use the Indeces of Polarimetric Purity (IPPs) to perform a quantitative analysis, to study their interest in the biomedical context. The IPPs and other polarimetric metrics will be used to study the samples from a quantitative point of view. Statistical treatment of data will be applied to bound the accuracy of the different indicators to the recognition of different structures in ex-vivo samples.
