Abstract
The Lean Production model is currently the key to efficiency that leads
many businesses to success. The term Industry 4.0 appeared for the first time in 2011 as one of the most promising approaches for dealing with future challenges in manufacturing environments. There have been few studies to date on the relation between the I4.0 and lean philosophy. The term and its real meaning are ambiguous.
This paper performs a systematic review of the literature up to December 2018 that examines how the I4.0 can be integrated with the lean manufacturing system.
