Abstract
In moderm OFDMA-based cellular networks, intercell
interference is the main issue limiting the capacity of these
systems. Recently, intensive research work has been focused on
intercell interference coordination as it has been recognized as
an important element to achieve seamless levels of quality of
service. However, in most of the cases, this issue is addressed as
a standalone issue. In this work, a novel channel state information
feedback mechanism is proposed aiming at improving the system
performance when static interference coordination techniques are
also considered. By means of the proposed scheme, gains in terms
of (1) users throughput, (2) cell edge performance and (3) energy
efficiency are achieved with respect to existing aperiodic LTEbased
mechanisms. Moreover, given the low complexity of the
proposed solution, feasibility aspects are also discussed and a
possible LTE implementation alternative is suggested.
