Numerical simulationresultsof unsteady cavitation flowson 2D hydrofoilsdependon theselectionof the turbulence and cavitationmodelsas well as the valueof the exponential coefficient nin the Reboud’scorrection. The aim of the present paper was to explorethe effects of these factors on the results’ accuracyand robustnessby performing unsteadycalculationsusing the CFD solverANSYSCFX¿. Three eddy-viscositymodelsandthree transport cavitation modelswere combined with two values ofnto calculate the experimental results from two different hydrofoils NACA65012 and NACA0009. It was found that the combination of the SST model and the valueof n=10 performed better in all the tested cases, so they are recommended as the first option. In addition, the selection of the turbulence model was found to be more important than the selection of the cavitation model in terms of accuracy of predicted cavity shedding frequency. Nonetheless, the choice of cavitation model was very significant if the objective of the numerical simulation is to predict cavitation erosion.
