Estudio sobre el abastecimiento y la calidad del agua de la ciudad de Camoapa en Nicaragua

Abstract

The present work aims to give a global vision about the actual situation and the principals problems that are occurring in the city of Camoapa (Nicaragua) originated for the crisis of water. It has work in collaboration with different organizations like San Just Solidari, El Porvenir and AUCCOP, among others, and with the the financing of Centro de Coperacion para el Desarrollo (CCD) wich belongs to UPC. The work is part of the commitment to contribute as much as possible to improve the quality and supply of Camoapa. With this goal, it has realized a deep study of the state of water resource, that pretend to make known the characteristics of the drinking water, and also pretends to analyze the characteristics of the existent supply system in the study area. Furthermore, it is studied the use that is made of the water according to the customs of the inhabitants of the area. In first place, the water of different representatives points of the area was analyzed, including the main dam, Rocas Morenas, and the different rivers that disembogue in the dam, some dregs (publics and privates) of different neighborhoods, and the water of the containers that are distributed by private companies. In second place, the collection of information was carried out through surveys of the inhabitants of the diferents neighborhoods of the city. A statical study of the collected data was developed. In addition, during the stay, the poor state of the infrastructure related to the supply was verified, which directly or indirectly contributes to the contamination of water from its origins. Finally, a slow sand water filter was built in the "Hogar luceros del amanecer school". It was made a manual about his manufacture, and also some training was made about the operation and maintenance (the manual was delivered to two camoapenses organizations, so that they could build others in a future).

El presente trabajo pretende dar una vision global de la situacion existente y de las principales problematicas que ocurren en la ciudad de Camoapa (Nicaragua) originadas por la crisis del agua. Se ha trabajado en colaboracion con distintas organizaciones como San Just Solidari, El porvenir y AUCOOP, entre otras, y con la financiacion del Centro de Cooperacion para el Desarrollo (CCD) perteneciente a la UPC. El trabajo se enmarca dentro del compromiso de contribuir en la medida de lo posible a la mejora de la calidad y el abastecimiento del agua de Camoapa. Con este objetivo, se realiza un estudio en profundidad del estado del recurso hidrico, que no solo pretende conocer las caracteristicas del agua de consumo, sino que tambien pone enfasis en analizar las caracteristicas del sistema de abastecimiento existentes en el area de estudio. Tambien se estudia el uso que se hace del agua segun las costumbres de los habitantes de la zona. En primer lugar, se analizo el agua de distintos puntos representativos de la zona, incluyendo la presa principal Rocas Morenas, los diferentes rios que desembocan en la presa, los pozos, tanto publicos como privados que se encuentran en los barrios, y el agua de los recipientes que son distribuidos por empresas privadas. En segundo lugar, se llevo a cabo la recogida de informacion a traves de encuestas a los habitants de los diferentes Barrios de la Ciudad. Se realizo un estudio estadistico de los datos recogidos. Ademas, durante la estancia, se constato el deficiente estado en el que se encuentra la infraestructura relacionada con el abastecimiento, que directa o indirectamente contribuye a la contaminacion del agua desde sus origenes. Para finalizar, se construyo un filtro de arena lento de agua en la escuela "Hogar luceros del amanecer", y se hicieron capacitaciones y manuales sobre su fabricacion, funcionamiento y mantenimiento (que se entregaron a dos organizaciones camoapenses, para que estas pudieran construir otros en el futuro).
