Experimental assessment of 5-10Gbps 5G multicarrier waveforms with intensity-modulation direct-detection for PONs

The sensitivity performance of an IMDDOFDM/FBMC/UFMC/GFDM system with a PIN based receiver is experimentally evaluated for downstream in broadband passive optical networks. Results show sensitivities better than -14.5(-8.0)dBm over 50km of SSMF at 5(10)Gbps.
