Abstract
The main objective of this project is to test, in a MATLAB simulation environment the physical layer of the Wi-Fi standard named IEEE 802.11p, and then in a laboratory environment, test its possibilities by sending and receiving packets using a Red Pitaya. To do so, the first thing that had to be done was the research on the standard (when and why is it used, its physical and MAC layers characteristics and the differences between it and the other existing Wi-Fi standards). Secondly, a MATLAB application which simulates the transmission of packets with the IEEE 802.11p format had to be done. Finally, using the MATLAB code and a Red Pitaya, the IEEE 802.11p packets were sent electrically and received by the same Red Pitaya.
5G is the next paradigm for mobile communications, and optical fiber networks are expected to be the transport media. This Final Degree Work will focus on the signal processing of the experimentally generated optical signals using the modulation formats proposed for the 5G networks.
