Abstract
This Master dissertation explores diffuse reflection spectroscopy as a viable tool for analytical chemistry, both quantitatively and qualitatively. In-vitro optical phantoms are created to mimic the turbid diffuse environments of human tissue. The method is first explored in the visible spectrum with ink as an absorbing chromophore. To test the efficiency of the method, glucose was chosen due to its basic chemical composition, non-toxicity and its medical relevence. Glucose absorption peaks (1.59µm and 2.1µm) altered the focus of the thesis from exploring diffuse reflection spectrosopy in the visible range to measuring in the short-wavelength infrared range (1000 ? 2200nm)
