The Spanish Mediterranean coast has a clear erosive trend. In urban areas, this shoreline retreat induces a reduction of the emerged width because sediment is not allowed to occupy backshore. The use of the sediment of the upper part of the beach in wider beaches appears to be attractive solution to temporary defend other more deficitary areas. The aim of this study is to analyse the process that play a key role on the design of such type of coastal interventions. The results will be used to define a set of recommendations in sediment beach recycling works.
