Abstract
Autonomous vehicles , or more correctly named as automated driving vehicles , are already a reality. Of course we are still far away from a 100% autonomous vehicle which can drive people anywhere by itself and none of the passengers would require to have a driving license but nowadays vehicles have "intelligent" systems that help t he driver in his/her driving task or can even prevent an accident. In fact, the safety of the passengers is one of the main factors that car manufacturers consider when designing new vehicles or improving the previous models since the number of road deaths is very high (for example , only in Spain there have been 1200 fatalities in 2017 according to dgt [1]) . One of the "intelligent" systems that some cars already have is ACC and this project pretends to study its effectiveness on a busy highway in order to reduce the "stop&go" waves. To perform this study, Matlab and Simulink software will be used. Other software as MSOffice and Minitab are complementary but are also used
