Modelling of transmission systems for integration of renewable generation

Renewable sources located in remote areas far from the demand centres long electric power transmission systems are required to transfer the generation with minimum losses and cost. Overhead lines in High Voltage Alternative Current (HVAC) are the conventional technology to transfer bulk generation. However, for long distances other options, such cables and Gas Insulated Lines (GIL), can be considered due to economical, geographical or environmental reasons. In this study the equivalent parameters of different transmission technologies are calculated and introduced in a power flow analysis.
