Abstract
The extension of the p-conjugated 10,15-dihydro-5H-diindolo[3,2-a:3',2'-c]carbazole (triindole) system via the introduction of donor moieties of different nature (phenyl, naphthyl, methylthiophenyl and benzo[b]thienyl) at the 3, 8 and 13 positions together with the analysis of their optical and electrochemical properties are here reported. The final materials were integrated as organic active layers on organic thin film transistors, displaying p-type performances with excellent air stability. The GIXRD analyses showed that these compounds adopt ordered molecular layers with the proper orientation to be applied as semiconductor films in transistor devices.
