Respigador

Abstract

Reflexionar sobre la situación actual de la arquitectura contemporánea portuguesa y sus posibilidades para el futuro implica una lectura dialógica1 de un conjunto de circunstancias culturales y sociológicas, que componen una imagen de la sociedad portuguesa actual y de su relación con la globalización cultural, como proceso de aceptación de estímulos y valores efímeros o recusación de nuevos modelos y conceptos para la preservación de otros, de memoria y perennidad. Este artículo se basa en tal lectura, inevitablemente sucinta, que revela apenas el inicio de una reflexión y de un análisis crítico que debe ser completado, de modo más exhaustivo y sistemático, paralelamente a la propia evolución del contexto estudiado. Respigar. Entender, por el reconocimiento de los gestos y diseños, los conceptos y obras que fueron rebuscados por ellos, o lo que hay de más digno para aprovechar de algunos arquitectos/autores. Espigar. Reflexionar sobre la respuesta, lo que fue lanzado o crió espiga, sobresalió, engañó o logró. Como en el documental de Agnés Varda -«Les Glaneurs et Ia Glaneuse»-, este artículo es una labor de respiga, de aprovechar y seleccionar conceptos investigados por diversos autores, para reutilizarlos analizando la obra de algunos arquitectos con el objeto de reconocer su trabajo de autor como respigador cultural, capaz de rebuscar conceptos y valores y relanzar la espiga. «Recoger en un campo después de la siega, aquí y allá, lo que hay de más digno».

A reflection on the present state and the future possibilities of the contemporary Portuguese architecture implies the necessity of a dialogic reading1 of cultural and sociological circumstances which compound the image of the present-day Portuguese society and that of its relation with cultural globalisation (considering the latter as a process of acceptance of ephemeral stimulus and values or recusancy of new models and concepts for the sake of preservation of the others, like memory and perenniality). This article is based on dialogic reading, inevitably succinct, that reveals but the very beginning of a reflection and a critical analysis, to be completed, in a more exhaustive and systematic fashion, parallel to the evolution of the context of study.

Respigar (to glean). To understand, via recognising gestures and designs, the concepts and works of certain architects/ authors, looking for useful things worthy to take advantage of.

Espigar (to ear). Reflect on the answer, something that has been launched or has put forth an ear, protruded, deluded or attained. As in the documentary of Agnés Varda --«Les Glaneurs et la Glaneuse», this article is a work of a gleaner, that of profiting from and selecting concepts reflected by different authors and re- utilized in order to analyse the product of some architects recognising the merits of their author's work as that of a cultural gleaner, capable of gleaning concepts and values and reset the ear (relanzar la espiga). «To gather after the reapers, here and there, looking for the most worthy of what is left».
