This project was born to cover a need at Guadalajara Airport (Mexico). In this airport, the demand is growing in such a way that, according to the GAP (Pacific Airport Group) President, Laura Díez Barroso Azcárraga, "in the next three years the airport will reach the limit of its airfield's capacity". This problem is mainly due to the fact that, currently, only one runway is available for landing and take-off operations. To avoid airfield's saturation, the definition and construction of a second runway is considered necessary. This project is placed in the study which should allow decisions about its location and design. In particular, it focuses on its aeronautical part: orientation, dimensions, horizontal signaling, pavement ... Other aspects such as expense accounting, topography or digital terrain models have been previously developed in other studies and only their analysis is carried out in this project in order to check their influence the decision-making process.
