Abstract
At the beginning of March 2011 a new European Project Semester (EPS) had started at the ENIT, the Ecole Nationale d’Ingénieurs de Tarbes (National Engineering School of Tarbes, France). During this programme students from different countries are working together in small groups of about four persons on one special technical project. One of the projects in spring term 2011 dealt with solar regulator communication. The main objective of this project was to connect a solar regulator with a PC via USB in order to transfer measurements to the PC and to visualize them with the help of special software. This software also had to be created during the project. SOLARCOM, a company specialized on the development and the construction of solar fields, is situated in Tarbes and was the main customer of this project. Furthermore, the project was supported by SOLARCOM in co-operation with the ENIT. The project had been carried out by Emre Baysal, Marcel Karl, Frederik Meyer and Javier Zaporta and supervised in technical aspects by Paul-Etienne Vidal and Daniel Dixneuf and by Philippe Fillatreau in management aspects. This documentation introduces the project in all of its aspects. Starting with the explanation of the technical background and a short presentation of the project team, later on all the management and planning aspects of the project will be described in detail. The main part of this report deals with all the details of our technical work and finishes with a summary of what has been achieved during the project. After having read this documentation the following questions will be answered: Which were the objectives of the project and the different tasks of the project team? What were risks and problems that appeared during the project? What technical and management solutions were found to achieve the goals of the project? What was the final result of the project, which progress has been made? Which experiences have been made by the project team and what can be learned for following projects? Therefore the following chapters contain all the information about the project.
