La naturalesa eminentment social d'aquesta línia pretén recolzar els processos d'intervenció de l'enginyeria civil des de l'anàlisi dels impactes socioambientals i territorials i la comprensió dels conflictes associats a la sostenibilitat, les formes de vida, l'economia, models d'urbanització, l'organització del temps de treball i d'oci... pretén aprofundir en les relacions entre els projectes urbanístics i d'infraestructures, els valors ambientals, les necessitats socials i la distribució entre els costos i els beneficis.
