Design and calculation of a passive house in Denmark

Abstract

This project you are about to read is the Interdisciplinary project for our sixth semester of Civil Engineer specialisation in Energy engineering in which we have to expose the knowledge we have been achieving during the degree. We are a group of 4 people: Josep, Marie-Annick, Guillaume and Lara. Josep and Lara are coming from Barcelona, Josep as an exchange student and Lara as a full degree student in VIA. Marie-Annick and Guillaume come from Toulouse as exchange students. This group was formed because of the interest all of us have in energy saving, and Passive Houses are on good example for all of us. We realize that our society needs a change in its way of acting and its way of thinking. Human beings have been living for a lot of years in the world without taking any care or consideration in the damages caused by our actions. Our point of view is that now we are starting to consider that our attitude hadn’t been a sustainable way of living until now, and we have started to make steps into a new direction. Our goal is to collaborate and be part of this group of people that is trying to change the established way of constructing and turn it into a more sustainable and eco-friendly one. We want to be actor of this energetic transition, so this project is a perfect way to improove our knowledges. Nowadays this way of constructing is a special way of doing things, kind of expensive and pushed way because every day more and more laws are done to promote it. But our idea as a project team is that we would like this to be the standard way of planning and constructing a house or any kind of building. That’s why we want our “independent house” being independent of the traditionnal way of building nowadays, independent from all the model we’ve known since the 50 last years. Moreover Passive House is not only about being sustainable, it is also about creating an adequate and healthy environments.
