dc.description.abstractThe objective of the present work is the design of an energy symbiosis between a Data Center and a regasification plant of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), using a District Heating & Cooling (DHC) system that allows a cryogenic cogeneration that provides cooling to refrigerate the Datacenter, electric current to feed the processes of its Informatic Technical Equipment (ITE) and at the same time it uses the heat generated by the same Datacenter to vaporize de LNG. This process allows reduction of operational costs, electrical consumption and generation of gases of greenhouse effect for both industries. In order to conceive this system, first is introduced a preliminary study of the different technologies and sectors involved is performed: Mission Critical Facilities, DHC and LNG. Then, is proposed in detail a practical example of the DHC synergetic system between the ALBA Synchrotron and the ST-4 trigeneration plant, where the three previously exposed technologies and sectors can be seen applied, as well as an energetic optimization study of the ALBA’s Datacenter. Finally, a simple design of the above mentioned system is presented, as well as the energetic, economic and environmental benefits that it contributes.
