Piecewise linearization of quadratic transfer characteristics
(2022-05-19)
Research report
Open AccessPiecewise linearization replaces a nonlinear transfer characteristic curve by a string of linear segments that connect several calibration points of the curve. This technique can be implemented by low-power digital ... -
Effects of stray capacitance to ground in impedance measurements
(Elsevier, 2021)
Part of book or chapter of book
Restricted access - publisher's policyInductive effects such as positive phase angles in impedance measurements have often confused the researchers when the material measured is nonmagnetic. When the measurement is based on auto-balancing bridge method and the ... -
Basic design of the signal chain in sensor-based measurement systems
(2022-04-19)
Research report
Open AccessSensor signals do not suit direct electronic communication and need further processing before being digitized. Therefore, the requirements of the digitizer add to those needed to fulfill the basic specifications for the ... -
Characterization of time domain EM field double-loaded curved loop probe
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2018)
Conference report
Open AccessIn this paper, we present and analyze the performance of a double-loaded curved loop probe to measure simultaneously electric and magnetic fields (EMF). The aim is to construct a probe that can be fitted to non-planar ... -
Magnetic localization system for short-range positioning: a ready-to-use design tool
(2021)
Article
Open AccessMagnetic localization is used in many indoor positioning applications, such as industrial, medical, and IoT, for its benefits related to the absence of line of sight needs, multipath and fading, the low cost of transmitters ... -
Non-contact video-based assessment of the respiratory function using a RGB-D camera
(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI), 2021-08-20)
Article
Open AccessA fully automatic, non-contact method for the assessment of the respiratory function is proposed using an RGB-D camera-based technology. The proposed algorithm relies on the depth channel of the camera to estimate the ... -
Entropy generation model to estimate battery ageing
(Elsevier, 2020-12)
Article
Open AccessDetermining battery ageing is a key issue in predicting the available charge in battery-operated systems. Beyond the common use of voltage or current measurements, which have proved unsuccessful as general methods, we aim ... -
Hydrophobic membranes for ammonia recovery from digestates in microbial electrolysis cells: Assessment of different configurations
(Elsevier, 2021-08)
Article
Open AccessThe combination of hydrophobic membranes and microbial electrolysis cells (MEC) was assessed in two different configurations in order to recover ammonia from anaerobically digested pig slurry. Politetrafluorethilene ... -
Analysis of energy and entropy balance in a residential building
(2022-01-20)
Article
Open AccessThe energy performance of a building located in La Roca del Vallès, close to Barcelona in Spain designed under the near Zero Energy Building (nZEB) and Net Zero Energy Building (NZEB) criteria was investigated. The aim was ... -
Common mode response effects in differential measurements
(2021-01)
Article
Open AccessDifferential measurements yield signals that are conditioned by differential or fully differential circuits which output depends on both the differential- and common-mode input voltages. Differential signals carry the ... -
Sedimentation monitoring of the active biomass in bioreactors by electrical impedance spectroscopy
(2020)
Conference report
Open AccessSequencing batch reactors are used in wastewater treatment to produce biogas (methane). Currently, when biogas production ceases the active sludge sedimentation process is not monitored but operated on a fixed time basis. ...
