This final degree project analyses the implementation of one customized Cost Index (CI) in Vueling Airlines. The CI gives a relation between the operational costs and the fuel costs. Nowadays, the company is flying with a value that lacks a study with updated values so it is unknown if it is optimal. For this reason, it has been convenient to perform an analysis of the variables that affect the CI and establish a new value that adapts the current company's policy costs, to thereby tap the full potential of this. The main purpose of the project is to raise awareness about the importance of having a Cost Index (CI) based on the economic data of the company and how not having a customized cost index can generate unnecessary costs. The main objectives of the project are basically two. On the one hand, the first is to make a study on the indirect costs that affect the Cost Index (CI). Once these costs are found, we will be calculated the optimal Cost Index (CI) for 2016 and for 2017. On the other hand, it is investigated if Lufthansa System has any software that complements Lido OC, for the automatic calculation of the Optimum Cost Index (CI) for each flight depending on the departure airport. To complete the objectives, simulations of flights are made flying with the Cost Index (CI) of 2016 and 2017. From here, we will obtain values that will allow us to pass them to costs and thus to see the savings of flying with an optimal Cost Index (CI).
