O problema da habitação no problema da cidade: o espaço doméstico na construção das cidades

Abstract

Analisa-se a casa para tentar responder à crise da cidade. Utilizam-se alguns exemplares da arquitectura moderna contemporânea, para propor uma nova experimentação doméstica urbana mais rica. Procurando as soluções que correspondam a modelos de transformação do uso da habitação, pelas evoluções funcionais e construtivas manifestadas ao longo do século, abordam-se as questões relativas aos espaços comuns e à maior ou menor liberdade com que se organizaram esses espaços na procura da casa sonhada. Casa essa que, aparentemente, se procurou nas periferias das cidades porque os coletivos reproduziram mais os modelos sociais da casa mínima e não souberam responder à exigência crescente das famílias. Compara-se assim a casa enquanto lugar de sociabilização à cidade enquanto espaço de habitar. Justifica-se assim uma alternativa qualificada à urbanização extensiva, de que a habitação unifamiliar é grande responsável, acreditando no regresso à cidade como solução mais confortável e sustentável.

Using some of the best examples of the domestic architecture of the twentieth century, ones analyze the house as instrument to respond to the crisis of the city, proposing a richer domestic urban experience. In the search for the ideal home, we try to look for the solutions that correspond to the transformation of housing use namely their social spaces. Notions of freedom, autonomy, space and comfort are the key elements to understand the family expectations for the house. Because most of all the housing models from the XXth century reproduced minimal concepts from the post-war era it lacked the right answer for the growing needs of the families. As a result, they search for better ones in the outskirts of the cities giving support to the urban sprawl. Thus we propose an optimized housing alternative to the extensive urbanization, using the domestic space as a place for socialization, and the city for sustainable dwelling.
