Abstract
The site is located in the historic center of Granada, next to the Cathedral. The project resolves and organizes the program through a multistorey entrance corridor. On the ground floor, this space absorbs and provides continuity to the social life generated on the plaza. On upper floors, the spaces interact with the exterior and the access hall of the building through a series of visual and spatial connections.
A constant idea shapes the flows within the building: the enlargement of thresholds and the dematerialization of traditional limits. This concept makes the urban public space continue inside the building. The interior space generates different reference points from which to extend the spatial experience beyond the envelope.
The light of Granada invades the building in a variable way and becomes the element providing unity to the interior spaces. Patios, skylights and large glass walls capture the light and its contrasts and enable multiple transparency and reflection scenarios.
