Abstract

Three infinite families of convex polyhedra with congruent plane pentagonal faces have been created using a single method of generation. A second method of generation permits us to associate with each member of these three families an infinite family of new polyhedra with plane congruent pentagonal faces. These two operations determine the polyhedra of the first and second generation. The possibility of classifying these polyhedra, using characteristics peculiar to the phenomenon of rotation occurring in their generation, is the focus of the present work.
