The aim of this thesis is the synthesis of the existing literature and bring together the views and knowledges of various authors about the business models. It is increasingly common to hear about business models, especially in the business world. Everybody talks about business model innovation and competitive advantage, but there is still no common definition. The explanation is little research in this area and a lack of consensus. The thesis is divided into three differentiate parts. The first part explains briefly what a business model is and shows some of the existing definitions. Moreover, there is an explanation about the components that a business model has according to the point of view of some authors. The second part goes deeply into the electronic markets and the most used representations. The Internet is becoming more used day by day, and this fact is changing the way of doing business. Finally, the third part focuses on improving the business model. This part tries to differentiate the business models from the competition by developing business strategies, and gives some strategies for companies that work or are thinking of working with dual or multi business models.
