In this paper, different types of kinetic energy regeneration systems will be analyzed. As it is known, "Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it simply changes form". The main idea is to take profit of the energy that belongs to a system in order to minimize the wasted energy (considering "wasted energy" as energy which leaves the system in a not profitable way). Up-to-date, current vehicles convert the kinetic energy into thermal energy in order to stop or reduce their velocity. This heat is almost immediately transferred to the environment, becoming in that case a waste of energy for the system. The main problem that will be analyzed is how can this energy be treated and which is the best way to store it so that it becomes useful for further needs. In order to achieve more efficient vehicles, this energy should be capable of providing the required power in the inefficient transient periods to the vehicle. Finally a simulation of the optimal solution will be computed and the optimal conditions in which this system can be useful will be annotated.
