Business intelligence tools: IBM Cognos & IBM Cognos Mobile

Abstract

This Project is framed within the Business Intelligence department existing in the Medical division of the company W.L. Gore & Associates. The aim of the Business Intelligence team is to manage, in a simply and efficient way, a big amount of information regarding the sales of medical products to the different clients of Europe. The main goal of the project is to develop a Business Intelligence server, using IBM Cognos software, in order to analyse its functionalities and to decide if it is worth it to adapt these resources to mobile technologies. In order to evaluate IBM software, a test environment will be created. Therefore, this project is about assembling a server reachable by the enterprise users. The server will give access to the enterprise data and functionalities stored on it, such as reports and cubes. Thanks to the development of the prototype environment, the software performance will be analysed, from its development phase until the usage offered to the end-user. Since mobile devices usage it's growing up very quickly, this project can help the enterprise to decide to go ahead with the inclusion of IBM Cognos Mobile in production environment.
