Implementation of augmented reality in HP wallArt

Abstract

The main objective of this project is the design and its posterior implementation of an Augmented Reality application into HP WallArt platform, a useful wall’s decoration opportunity. This memorandum offers the development from the point of view of design and users’ experience. The content of this report covers three differentiated stages: The first phase is focused on the reasons which make sense to this project as well as the introduction into this kind of technology, deepening into some of the current applications. In the same way, several design methods are used in order to obtain all the requirements to be achieved, from a description of the specific objectives for a complete functional analysis. The second stage is centered on the design part, where a benchmarking analysis between the current alternatives is done, selecting the best characteristics in terms of technology and performances of each one with the purpose of obtaining an own application that can satisfy all the requirements in the most feasible way. This new application mobile created is presented and used to carry out several tests with the purpose of defining the limitations and the needed conditions for the implementation. These preliminary studies realized are detailed, all of them regarding some features related to the marks’ detection, as color or well functional image sizes and also the final image quality obtained. The third part contains the process of implementation, from the required aspects to a preliminary conceptual design of the modifications of HP WallArt’s web page with the Augmented Reality option available. Some future applications are also listed as well as the specifications of the content manager used to control the images’ usage and manage the customized jobs.
