The aim of this project was to design a paediatric and neonatal lung simulator that would cover hospital’s needs, basically offering innovatory ventilation solutions through a compact, simple and low-cost product used for educational purposes. The proposed solution is able to represent various clinical scenarios via four adjustable features that have the possibility to be remotely controlled: air leakage, air resistance, bag compliance and spontaneous breathing generation which till now was only available in the most expensive and heavy lung simulators The spontaneous breathing generation represents the parameter shown through the prototype, which is made up out of a rigid structure obtained from the 3D Printer, an improvised bellow, a polyurethane foam case and a cylinder supplied by a professor. The testing was possible in a laboratory of the university because an air source and a proportional valve were needed. In hopes of a continuation of the project and manufacturing, recommendations for future students and next steps are enclosed in the final part of the report.
