Design Modification Process. Design Modification of Ventilation System in Fuel Building of Ascó NPP to avoid the release of Radioactive Particles

An event occurred in November 2007 in Ascó I NPP originated the release of radioactive particles through the discharge stack. In consequence, a new electrical modification of heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC) in fuel building has been taking into account in order to prevent similar events. The main objective of this project is to give a detailed description from the beginning to the end of a nuclear design modification process. Since every modification must follow and meet the design basis and the license basis requirements of the mentioned system, this project explains the generic design modification process and its specific application to the design modification of the before mentioned ventilation system in order to ensure the plant safety goal.
