dc.description.abstract | This project develops the electronic part of the telemetry hardware and software for the first stage of a project born within the "Trencalòs Team" group. This ambitious project entitled "UAV-Tteam" (Unmanned Air Vehicle-Trencalos Team) aims to build a small scale UAV unmanned aircraft. It covers designing its aerodynamics, navigation system, sensor and stability controls, ground communication station and the electronic system for the control of potential payload. This end of course project (TFC-Trabajo Final de Carrera) aims at designing the hardware and software associated with Stage 1 Telemetry for the UAV-Tteam project. It sets the design and manufacture of a modular hardware that is versatile and can be easily developed to have new functions added to it. The aim is to be able to fix this hardware platform, at the initial stage of construction, to a commercially available model aircraft that can be easily built and repaired. The hardware should be able to capture, transmit and store in an internal memory the flight parameters of this generic model aeroplane. In this stage, the basic electronic and sensory systems include an Inertial Measurement Unit, a basic navigation system (course, altitude, GPS position), performance over primary surfaces via servomotors, and a nonvolatile internal memory acquisition of at least 20 minutes (black box) to store the parameters captured. The primary command of the flight control system must be via a standard commercial radio-controlled transmitter and a model aircraft pilot. The secondary control system will be via a chosen microprocessor. When set to this system, instructions sent via the commercial radio transmitter will be bypassed. The physical person acting as pilot controlling the transmitter will have a radio channel for the exclusive use of indicating to the model aircraft whether its control is to be manual or transferred to the processor and set to automatic flight. This requires the design of a hardware system that is completely independent and able to switch control of the aircraft between automatic and manual control. This will allow the pilot, from the early stages of the project, to attempt to regain manual control of the aircraft model whenever the automatic mode is at fault. |
