dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this thesis is to study arc routing problems and design metaheuristic methods in order to provide high quality solutions to existing problems, focusing on the Capacitated Arc Routing Problem. The first part of the thesis will contain a literature study on vehicle routing problems and the existing methodology used to solve them. In the practical part, first a simple greedy algorithm is going to be used to get some starting results. Afterwards, the objective will be designing and implementing heuristics and metaheuristics in search of the better solutions. The results are going to be analysed and compared between them and also with other methods that already exist in the literature.
