Abstract
The aim of the experiment is to calibrate a monofiber optical probe, used in two phase gas-liquid flow, to a speed of 40 m/s. To measure the bubble velocity, the optical probe requires calibration. This procedure consists of measuring the rise time of signals of stable bubbles that are released into a flow of pressurized water through a horizontal tube of inner diameter 6 mm. The shape of the bubble tip is recorded by a camera and the advance speed of the bubbles is measured by two laser gates placed along the tube and separed by a distance d. The optical probe signals were correlated with these measurements.
