dc.description.abstractSpheroidal cast iron still has a lot of applications; especially in the automotive industry. In this Master Thesis the wear of the drilling tools and its effect on the quality of the drilled holes is being studied. An experimental investigation of different types of tool coatings and geometry will be done to understand the diverse factors that affect the creation of wear. Also the forces involved in the process of drilling will be experimentally calculated. Studying the results, recommendations for the drilling of spheroidal cast iron can be derived.
