Abstract

The aim of the study is to design the passenger cabin of a light aircraft called e2PAC, an all-electric new concept vehicle for urban mobility with capacity for two passengers, with STOL (short take-off and landing) performance and extended reach to be used as a commuter in day to day operations. This study is part of the group eProjects in which various students and professors participate to make this initiative a reality. The present study is therefore focused on making a first pre-design of the cabin of the aircraft. To achieve this, an identification of the cabin requirements has been carried out first and then the basic dimensions have been delimited to parameterize it. Next, a possible structure and external configuration has been considered, in which the aerodynamic optimization of the same will be of great importance, complying with the structural requirements. Once the exterior design has been completed, the design of the interior has been carried out, using the functionality and comfort of the passengers as the most important criteria. Being a pre-design the study does not pretend to be the final solution adopted but a first approximation from which it can be obtained many ideas and results of structural analysis, aerodynamics or estimates of weights and costs. Because this project involves an important design component through computeraided design programs, the parallel objective of the study is to perform image processing and provide renders not only of the cabin, but also of the final model of the aircraft so that they can serve as representative material for the project to which it belongs.
