Abstract
This article probes into the capability of the power control loop of a voltage source converter based on electromechanical behavior to reproduce the power injected into the grid with inertial characteristics, similar to a synchronous generator. It focuses on studying the behavior of the electromechanical loop within a range of values for the inertia constant and damping coefficient. The transfer function of the plant or converter has been compared with the transfer function of a second-order system to determine the typical parameters of these functions. Finally, the overshoot control capability has been validated as the natural frequency of the system through simulations and experimental tests. This validates the correlation between damping and the rise or fall slope of power in response to a step input. Additionally, the relationship between inertia and damping values with overshoot and settling time is validated.
