Abstract
The main aim of this project is to analyze the capacity and demand of the passenger terminal of an airport. In the future, a considerable growth in the flow of passengers is expected, since the base of operations of an airline will be installed. In order to realize the demand study, a current and horizon year flight plan are used. Once the demand is known, the capacity is calculated through a static analysis, which means that the different subsystems of the airport are sized. This capacity study is carried out using the 10th edition of the IATA Airport Development Reference Manual (ADRM). When the capacity of the different areas is obtained, the results obtained are compared with the dimensions and equipment of the existing terminal. Therefore, it is known if the existing facilities are optimal for the current and future situation. In the case of security control, an expansion of the equipment would be needed to provide an optimal level of service. In addition, a dynamic analysis is performed through AirTOP simulation software. The terminal is modelled, specifically, the Check-In, Bag Drop and security control areas. Next, the terminal is simulated with future demand and the level of service (waiting time and space per passenger in waiting areas) is evaluated. Finally, based on the level of service obtained in the simulation, different improvements are proposed in order to optimize the dimensions and equipment of the terminal.
