Abstract
Sustainability and ecology are ver y present concepts nowadays, on which humanity ’s future and development on this planet depend. The impact of uncontrolled growth and use of resources begins to affect human life and all lives on this planet. There’s a need to “ repair ” the damage caused by our species and face another way of living, a way that is beneficial for all species. As an architect, part of my job will be to find the best strategies to implement the most conducive concepts and techniques for sustainable development. Throughout the architecture career these concepts are taught especially in edification’s field; either by passive systems, materials, construction techniques with high energy efficiency, etc. In urban planning, the methods and systems for integrating these concepts are quite rare in our educational system. Therefore, this work aims to analyse ecological and sustainable methods of structuring human settlements, in able to understand the best way to act in urban planning towards a greener future.
