Desde ya hace algunos años, el comercio electrónico ha experimentado un gran crecimiento y esto ha hecho que las empresas logísticas hayan tenido que adaptarse a ésta nueva tendencia. Siendo los camiones y furgonetas los vehículos más usados en la distribución urbana de mercancías con lo que ello conlleva, y sumado a los problemas habituales en los procesos logísticos urbanos, ha provocado el surgimiento de una nueva alternativa para el reparto de paquetería: los drones. Con ellos se pretende dar salida a diversos problemas como son la contaminación, el tráfico, la última milla logística, la logística inversa, etc. Antes de la llegada de los drones al mundo de la logística, éstos ya tenían multitud de aplicaciones en diversos campos como el militar, la ayuda humanitaria, el audiovisual, etc. Las particularidades de éstas aeronaves y su funcionamiento autónomo permiten obtener grandes ventajas en logística como son ahorro de costes, envíos en menos de 30 minutos, reducción del tráfico, etc. La llegada del sistema de repartición mediante drones implica también la instalación de una nueva infraestructura que permita adaptar las ciudades a éstas aeronaves. Existe también la posibilidad de combinar el uso de los tradicionales camiones con los drones aprovechando así las ventajas que cada uno ofrece. Finalmente, cabe comentar que la implementación de los drones en logística urbana implica no sólo la adaptación de la ciudad sino también de sus habitantes y sobretodo la actualización de la normativa que actualmente prohíbe su uso para repartir paquetería en ciudades.

As trucks and vans are the most used vehicles in the urban freight distribution with what it entails, and added to the usual problems in urban logistic processes, all these has led to the emergence of a new alternative for parcel distribution: drones. They are intended to solve various problems such as pollution, traffic, the last mile logistics, reverse logistics, etc. Before the arrival of drones to the logistics world, these aircrafts already had many applications in various fields such as military, humanitarian aid, audio-visual, etc. The particularities of these aircraft and their autonomous operation allow great advantages in logistics such as cost savings, shipments in less than 30 minutes, traffic reduction, etc. The arrival of this new parcel delivery system also involves the installation of a new infrastructure that allows the cities to adapt to these aircraft. There is also the possibility of combining the use of traditional trucks with drones taking the advantages that each one offers. Finally, it should be mentioned that the implementation of the drones in urban logistics implies not only the adaptation of the city but also of its inhabitants and above all the updating of the regulations that currently prohibit their use to distribute parcels in cities.
