Aquests últims anys a Barcelona s’està apostant per la rehabilitació i millora d’edificis a tota la ciutat a causa del canvi de mentalitat cap a la sostenibilitat, al medi ambient, a l’economia i fins i tot l'urbanisme. Però també com a solució davant la manca de disponibilitat d’habitatges sostenibles al territori. En aquest treball de recerca s’investigaran els mecanismes estratègics que s'utilitzen avui en dia i com es van implementant en els projectes de rehabilitació d’edificis amb habitatges. Vist que la intenció és poder fer ús d'aquests espais sense perdre l’essència que prèviament transmetien. S’han escollit tres casuístiques amb arquitectes diferents, on el que han aconseguit és rehabilitar un edifici ja existent i convertir-lo en un bloc d’habitatges més sostenible, millorant les condicions en què es trobaven anteriorment. El motiu de la selecció d’aquests tres casos, s’ha realitzat atès que es pugui veure si a l’hora de rehabilitar edificis d’aquestes dimensions, es fan servir les mateixes estratègies o són divergents. Els projectes escollits són els següents: En primer lloc “GutGut, Prefab House en Rimavska Sobota”, Slovakia 2014; En segon lloc, “Transformation de 530 logements”, Lacaton & Vassal + Druot , Bordeaux 2016; i finalment “Fabra & Coats”, Roldán + Berengué, Barcelona 2019. Aquesta investigació té la finalitat de poder ser útil en projectes d’un futur pròxim, ja que actualment se li dona més importància a la rehabilitació d’edificis existents, que a edificis d’obra nova.

In recent years, Barcelona has been committed to the rehabilitation and improvement of buildings throughout the city due to the change of mentality towards sustainability, the environment, the economy and even urban planning. But also as a solution to the lack of availability of sustainable housing in the territory. This research work will investigate the strategic mechanisms that are used today, and how they are being implemented in building renovation projects. The idea is to be able to use these spaces without losing the essence they convey. Three cases of different architects have been chosen, where what they have achieved is to rehabilitate an existing building and convert it into a more sustainable housing block, improving the conditions in which they were previously. The reason for selecting these three different cases is so that it can be seen whether the same or very different strategies are used when renovating buildings of this size. The chosen projects are the following: Firstly "GutGut, Prefab House in Rimavska Sobota", Slovakia 2014; secondly, "Transformation de 530 logements", Lacaton & Vassal + Druot, Bordeaux 2016; and finally "Fabra & Coats", Roldán + Berengué, Barcelona 2019. This research is intended to be useful for projects in the near future, as currently more importance is given to the renovation of existing buildings than to new buildings.
